Tuesday, October 12, was this month's patch release from Microsoft. It was a record number of patches released by Microsoft, many of which are critical. These updates cover all supported Windows operating systems, as well as all supported version of Microsoft Office and Internet Explorer.

LINUX
Linux Ubuntu released it's latest version - Maverick Meerkat! Like or not, Ubuntu is outdoing itself with every new version and the latest is a knockout!
The great thing about many versions of Linux is that you can make a CD or DVD and run the system off of the CD/DVD. This is great way to just try it out without having to install.

LAPTOP and ANDROID TRACKER
Finally and open-source and FREE application that will track your laptop or android-based phone, that works! The application is called PREY and works on Windows, Apple, Linux computers, as well as Android-based phones. Should any of these be stolen you can trace the location of the device as well as put a lojack on it.
In addition to installing the software on your computer or phone, you will have to set up an online account which is then used to administer tracking of you device should it get stolen. A free account will let you monitor up to four devices.
