This concerns those using Windows XP and Vista.
Over this weekend Microsoft experienced an outage with regards to its updating service. Specifically this concerned the Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) service, which is used to verify that users have licensed copies of XP and Vista installed. It turns out that it may have been very critical that users not perform an update during this outage. Of course people only become aware of the problem post factum. Should one have tried to update or activate Windows during the outage there was a possibility that your copy of XP or Vista could be deemed illegal, which causes additional headaches.
Additional information about this issue can be read at:

Hopefully no one on the ACSS list has suffered due to this outage. If you have, feel free to write me and I will do my best to help you through the problem.
